Abstract
- The article presents the views of several geologists who favored the redefinition of the quaternary base and lowering of the pleistocene base. According to Philip Gibbard of the University of Cambridge, the 800,000-year slice into the pleistocene is just correcting the mistake made 25-30 years ago defining pleistocene base at 1.8 million years ago. Stan Finney notes that geologic timescale is fundamental for expressing the history of the earth.
