Abstract

In this article the author discusses the study conducted by G. K. Nikolopoulos and colleagues that examines the impact of hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection on the progression of AIDS and mortality in HIV-infected individuals. He highlights the significance of the study which establishes that HBV is associated with an excess risk of all-cause mortality. He also cites the significance of effective vaccination for the prevention of HBVin HIV-infected persons.
