Abstract
- The article discusses the nomination of Sonia Sotomayor, a Hispanic woman as next justice of the U.S. Supreme Court. It notes criticisms and notions from the republican group which include issues regarding her legal writings and public pronouncements, her being Hispanic, and her being a radical judicial activist. However, Sotomayor's Democratic allies uses her career trajectory as a defensive instrument hoping it will essentially immunize her jurisprudence from criticism.
