The article presents information on the advances in the field of sintering science and technology. Information on the International Conference Sintering 2008, held in San Diego, California, from November 16-20, is presented, which is reportedly the fifth in a series that started in 1995. It is papers discussed in that conference that the current issue of the journal is focused on. Similar conferences have reportedly come up in Eastern Europe, attended by professionals of the area.
