Abstract
- The article discusses the efforts of several states across the U.S. on enacting laws which aim to give sexual abuse cases redress in civil courts. The law enacted in California in 2002 provides victims one year to sue their abuser or the employer regardless when the incident took place, a measure being followed by other states such as New York. It is noted that the statutes of limitations, for criminal or civil actions, address situations wherein evidence is incomplete, documents have been lost, and testimonials described faded memories.
