Abstract: This section offers news briefs concerning higher education. A study conducted by the Australian Academy of the Humanities found that one in ten first year students study a foreign language in the country. Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd introduced a task force to address violence against Indian students. The Qatar Foundation hosted an international education summit meeting in London, England in June 2009.
