Abstract
- The article looks at the results of a survey conducted among U.S. Soldiers and Marines on the behavior of units exposed to high levels of combat. The author notes that military field manuals consider military action to be in the service of human dignity. The survey reveals that 10 percent of the Soldiers and Marines who responded admitted to the mistreatment of noncombatants or the destruction of property when it was not necessary.
