Troubles across Turkestan.

The article examines the effect of China's ethnic relations with its Uighur minority on its foreign relations with Central Asian countries. Turkey has strongly criticized China's reaction to ethnic violence between Uighurs and Han Chinese in Xinjiang province in July, 2009. Neighboring Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan have kept silent, possibly because of China's large foreign investment and economic assistance projects in their countries.
