Abstract

The article reports on the political tension that arise in the U.S. Congress and Senate over the Lockheed Martin-led F-22 Raptor program. The Congress, for one, has expressed its persistent support for the F-22 program. But the House and Senate Armed Services Committees have remained divided over the issue of earmarking funds for the program. Despite this, several senior Democratic defense appropriators still supported the Raptor program with production of 20 additional aircraft and retention of the Lockheed production line for another thee years.
