Abstract

Introduction: The flexibility study in the human performance has been taking more importance. The necessity of wide movements has been seeing as imperative conditional at the performance in professional actions and in some sports. Furthermore, it is getting more common studies showing the importance of flexibility in the prevention of several neuromuscular disturbs. This work proposes to compare the flexibility of administration's works and production's works of a metallurgic company in Guaxupé - Minas Gerais - Brazil, using the Flexitest as evaluation device. Materials and Methods: In this study were evaluated all the 202 administration's works and production's works of both genders, being 87 females and 115 males. It was measured weight and stature and made the flexibility test Flexitest adapted to eight movements (hip flexion - FQ; hip abduction - AQ; hip extension - EQ; trunk lateral flexion - FLT; trunk flexion-FT; shoulder horizontal extension - EHO; shoulder extension - EO; and shoulder abduction - AO). Results: Comparing the groups by performing areas, only in the shoulder extension test were found differences to the two genders, both to the production area. In relation to the age, in both groups were found differences in lots of tests (AQ, FLT, FT, EHO e EO to female; and AQ, EHO e FT to male). Finally it was found no difference when was compare work hours test in the two genders. Discussion: In the end of the study it was concluded that the flexibility of the workers declines with the age, the professional occupation area does not interfere in the flexibility and that the time of service also does not change the flexibility results, probably guaranteed by the labor gymnastics held.
