Abstract
- The author reflects on the connection of Charles Darwin's theory of evolution with the field of molecular imaging. He cites the application of Darwin's principle of selection in the ligand molecular probe selection process. He mentions several biotechnological procedures for the selection of molecular imaging probes such as phage display, ribosome display, mRNA and bacterial display. He also notes the attractiveness of aptamers as molecular probes due to their medium molecular size.
