Meridianiite detected in ice.

The article presents a study that depicts the occurrence of Magnesium sulfate (MgSO4) and 11H2O mineral from salt inclusion in Antarctic continental core ice and in sea ice of Lake Saroma, Japan in March 2009. The occurrence is affirmed through the use of micro-Raman spectroscopy to equate Raman spectra of synthetic MgSO4 and 11H2O with those inclusions. In addition, the crystal structure of MgSO4 and 11H2O is triclinic with P-1 space group.
