Abstract

The article reports on the increase of juvenile justice programs or youth courts. It notes that youth courts offers opportunity for communities to provide immediate responses for first-time youth offenders and a peer-sentencing system which allow adolescents to be held accountable and make indemnity for crimes committed. It offers an overview on the function of youth courts which involve several agencies and organizations including police, probation, and juvenile and family courts. Further, it emphasizes the need for youth courts to pose a positive experience for any of the youths involved.
