Abstract

The article offers information on a 2007 study conducted by the Steven Institute of Technology on new reference curriculum for masters degrees in software engineering. The study was sponsored by the U.S. Department of Defense and surveyed 28 university programs. A coalition composed of people from academia, industry, and government was formed. Findings revealed that less than 40 percent of programs has introductory software engineering course. Other findings were 85 percent cover software testing while 20 percent cover software tools and methods.
