Abstract
- The article discusses the case for developing robot scientists. Developing robot scientists is said to be simpler than developing general artificial intelligence (AI) systems because the social milieu does not need to be taken into account. Robot scientists apply techniques from AI to automatically execute cycles of scientific experimentation. Increasing the productivity and efficiency of science is identified as the technological motivation for robot scientists.
