Abstract

The article offers information on Canada's Fogo Island which is promoting tourism to save its economy. Fogo Island is a 90-square-mile outcrop of windswept rock in the North Atlantic, where watching icebergs drift south from Greenland is a springtime ritual. With 16 million dollars in government and foundation help, this community of 2,700 off the coast of Newfoundland plans to reinvent itself as a geotourism destination.
