Abstract

The article discusses the importance of employee wellness programmes to the companies in Great Britain. According to a paper released by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), the rate of the decline in sickness absence since the introduction of such programme was between 10% and 36%. It cites some of the costs of sickness absence including the loss of continuity, low consumer satisfaction and decreased staff morale. The author suggests handling wellness initiatives in the same way one treats business goals.
