Abstract

The article discusses the 10th presidential election in Iran. The author examines how the inherent contradiction in the postrevolutionary constitution became the point of reference for both the idea of republicanism and autocratic theocracy. The author talks about how the basic principles of the Iranian Revolution of 1979 are seriously contested. Subjects of the article also include the establishment of the Islamic Republic, Iran's development of nuclear energy, and religious codes since the revolution.
