Abstract

The article presents a case study of an 11-year-old girl suffering from severe skeletal muscle damage due to the administration of mesalazine, also known as 5-aminosalicylic acid (5-ASA) 5-ASA, for ulcerative colitis. It states that the administration of mesalazine increased the level of serum creatine kinase (CK) at 6066 international unit per liter. It notes that the discontinuation of 5-ASA therapy had improved the patient's condition.
