Abstract
- The author comments on the perspective of researcher Barbara Webb regarding the purposefulness of exploratory tools and the legitimacy of biological models that are created to represent mechanisms. He notes a propagation of an error by Webb which similar to that of computer scientist who confuses models with reality. He stresses the significance of a tool to be appreciated with its use, its capacity to inspire new techniques, and its capability to lead to a creation.
