Abstract

In this article the author discusses the similarity of the benthic Bolivina variabilis and planktic Streptochilus globigerus. He claims that the plankton is one particular species of foraminifer, which is a single-celled, testate protist. He explains that their profound similarity has provided the fact that plaplanktic lineages may have evolved multiple times from benthic ancestors since Jurassic time.
