Guest Editors’ Editorial: Mesostructured Materials: Design and Opportunities.

The author discusses the highlights of a symposium on mesostructured materials held in Namur, Belgium in September 2008 and was jointly organized by the Laboratory of Inorganic Materials Chemistry at the University of Namur in Belgium and the Laboratory of Controlled Porosity Materials at the University of Haute-Alsace in France, under the auspices of the International Mesostructured Materials Association. The symposium addressed oxide mesostructured materials, non-oxide mesostructured materials and hierarchical mesostructured materials, among others.
