Abstract

The article reports the complaints by academics from the University of Derby in Derby, England accusing the institution of turning them into administrators by being overloaded with non-academic duties. The complaints arose when the university asked them to check student attendance with hand held scanners which they claim takes at least ten minutes each lecture. Derby countered that the device is easy to use and the scheme demonstrated Derby's concern for student support , maintaining contact and maximizing achievement potential.
