Abstract

The article discusses the conflict between two Confederates, President Jefferson Davis and General Joseph E. Johnston, which led to the downfall of the Confederacy during the U.S. Civil War in 1861-1865. Reportedly, Davis ordered to unite Johnston and General James Longstreet's forces and attack the enemies in Tennessee. Johnston did not follow Davis' order and waited for the enemies' attacks. He underestimated their enemies and lost the battle against Major General William T. Sherman.
