Abstract

The article reports on the move of chemical companies including TurboBeads and BASF AG in adding chemistry to extend the utility of magnetics. According to Robert Grass of TurboBeads, the company is working on two technological advances including a technique for coating cobalt, iron, and magnetic metals with a graphene-like carbon layer. It talks on the carbonyl iron powder developed by BASF, as well as its agreement with Delta Electronics to create magnetocaloric technology for cooling systems.
