Abstract
- The article provides an analysis of the factors that determine the adoption of non-mandated policies on climate change. Following the withdrawal of the 2001 administration of U.S. President George W. Bush from the ratification of the Kyoto Protocol, some U.S. states have come up with their own climate-change related regulations. Most of them reportedly work with neighboring states to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. A discussion of the influences on state actions towards the environmental issues is provided.
