Abstract
- The article discusses the concept of judicial notice as well as its advantages and disadvantages in the U.S. The author says that judicial notice enables court to consider a proposition as conclusive without requiring any party to present evidence of that proposition's truth. It is noted that the Rule 201 of the Federal Rules of Evidence reportedly supports such notice as long as the opinion is generally known and can be easily verified. An overview of the case United States v. Newland is presented.
