The article presents a discussion of U.S. President Barack Obama from the standpoint of his impact on visual culture. It focuses on Obama-related photographs which have been posted on the photo-sharing website Flickr. An analysis is presented of some of these images, which were selected by a Flickr algorithm as ranking among those which the site's users found most interesting as of June 2009. The political symbolism of these photographs is discussed, and comments from users of the site are quoted to illustrate relationships between the images and the larger political culture.
