Abstract

This article presents a commentary on the topic "Power, Institution and Group-Analytic Training," by Robert F. Marten. The author found Marten's paper interesting, and the format of the changes in the Zurich training course in group analysis fascinating, but at the same time worrying. The historical background he quotes from historical references is interesting in the light of development of psychoanalysis and group analysis, yet disconcerting in relation to the changes yet to be made of the integration of a host of various views within the two disciplines. In the context of the references and historical features referred to in the paper, there does seem to be a considerable anxiety about integrating everything into the total setting of the course. In relation to the training course, there is a great deal to time and energy required, especially in regard to the final qualification of a candidate.
