Abstract

The article reports on the study conducted by researchers at the U.S. Agricultural Research Service (ARS) regarding the use of rye as pigweed control and enrich the soil. Researchers found that farmers used the dead stalks of rye as alternative for herbicide by flattening over the soybean and vegetable fields to prevent the growth of spring weeds. Moreover, research leaders John Teasdale and Cliff Rice explained that rye suppressed weeds and improve its weed-killing capabilities.
