Journeys through the Golgi--taking stock in a new era.

The article discusses the highlights of the meeting of a group of Golgi researchers held at the Center for Genomic Regulation (CGR) in Barcelona, Spain in June 2009. The meeting was held with the aim of assessing the strengths and limitations of published data about the Golgi apparatus. Issues tackled during the meeting include the transport of proteins across the Golgi apparatus, the importance of the connections between Golgi cisternae and the role of membrane domains in the Golgi apparatus.
