- Abstract: The use of nuclear track detectors at accelerators to directly search for the magnetic monopole and other highly ionizing objects is discussed. Recent searches at LEP are used as examples. Finally, the MoEDAL experiment, which is designed to continue the search at the LHC, is described. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]
