Abstract
- The article discusses the involvement of Goldman Sachs Group Inc. in the collateralized debt obligations (CDOs) that almost bankrupted American International Group Inc. (AIG). Of the $80 billion in CDO insurance that AIG sold during a housing boom in the U.S., Goldman Sachs purchased $33 billion. The U.S. government eventually committed billions to bailing out AIG.
