Abstract

The article examines the presence of Rickettsia in Rhipicephalus sanguineus ticks in a Brazilian spotted fever endemic rural area in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Brazilian spotted fever (BSF) is one of the life-threatening zoonotic tick-borne disease, which is transmitted to humans after the bite of infected ticks. BSF is also considered as one of the most common rickettsial diseases in Brazil.
