Patients and GPs highly value counselling in primary care.

The article discusses the role counselling as a main mental health care, which is recognized by patients and general practitioners. A review by the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy which yielded 3,193 papers and out of them, 26 different studies were included. The studies were classified into the domains including efficacy, practice based evidence, and economic issues. There were limited discoveries in the review due to lack of proof as to the long-term effects of counselling in primary care.
