Abstract

On the Road with Charles Kuralt. Charles Kuralt. Fawcett Gold Medal, New York, 1985. This is the story of a newspaper reporter who became a "feature story writer" for CBS and went around the country with a cameraman and recorder in a truck to find feature stories for the Sunday edition of the paper. Each one of the stories serves to depict someone in America who is concerned with giving as opposed to getting. The theme of the articles emphasizes that there are people out there that spend their life selflessly. The summary of such feature stories are included, and where often the persons involved speaks their own lines in the story. The stories are grouped as follows: (1) Unlikely heroes, (2) Different drummers, (3) Poets and others, (4) Tall tales and dreamers, (5) Small towns, (6) Passing the torch, (7) American suite, (8) Hallowed ground, (9) Seasons.
