Abstract

The article discusses the study which assesses the effectiveness of therapeutic hypothermia (TH) protocols to patients with out-of-hospital cardiac arrest. The protocol aims to improve neurologic outcomes and potential survival. The study used an active cooling TH protocol for unconscious patients who are resuscitated from cardiac arrest. Results show that the improvements in the neurologic outcomes in patients with initial rhythm of ventricular fibrillation are related to the TH period.
