Abstract
- This article explores the ways to win the reality television program "American Idol." It recounts the author's experience of joining the auditions of the show in 2005 and being rejected after singing for 10 seconds. He states that the x-factor on "American Idol" is a combination of intrinsic motivation, charisma, and musicality. He also presents a description of different types of the show's contestants including the Ivy League gangster, glam rocker, and boy next door.
