Abstract
- The article focuses on the scrutiny of counterterrorism measures in the U.S. prompted by an attempted suicide bombing on December 25, 2009. Former 9/11 Commission co-chairman Tom Kean stated that the attempted attack indicates the failure to fully implement recommendations to prevent terrorism made after the September 11, 2001 attacks. He cited how the new national intelligence structure was weakened. The National Counterterrorism Center is keeping the database known as the Terrorist Identities Datamart Environment (TIDE).
