Ecology and Administration: Ecosystem Management in the Great Lakes and the U.S.-Mexico Border Region.

The article presents an overview of successful ecosystem management practices which have been established in the Great Lakes region of the U.S. and the U.S.-Mexico border region. A discussion of the ways that environmental policies can be effectively used to address ecosystem sustainability challenges that have been created in politically fragmented areas is presented. The important role cooperation between the scientific community, governments and the public plays in helping to establish successful ecosystem management practices is discussed.
