Abstract

The article discusses Rahm Emanuel, chief of staff to U.S. President Barack Obama. Emanuel gave up a promising career in the U.S. House to take the job. He is said to inspire fear and respect in those who work in Obama's administration, and is known for profanity-laced tirades. Despite his reputation as an influential member of Obama's administration, though, he has lost his share of arguments on a variety of issues including health-care legislation and the Afghan war.
