Abstract

The article presents a study which examines the impact of interactions among airflow oscillation, tracheal inclination, and mucus elasticity in the improvement of simulated cough clearance. The study evaluates mucus stimulant aliquots displacement during simulated cough under several conditions in a rigid tracheal model. Results indicate that increased tracheal angle will result to increased cough efficiency which is attributed to increased frontal presentation facing the flow of cough.
