Abstract

The authors discuss environmental conditions and mitigation needs in the Himalayas of China and India. The authors opine on the value of cooperative efforts between China and India in conserving biodiversity and mitigating global warming and deforestation. The article discusses ecological impacts in the Himalayas associated with each country's military presence, river damming, and hydroelectric-power production. The benefits of, obstacles to, and implementation steps for collaboration between China and India in addressing these environmental problems are discussed.
