Abstract

The article focuses on the essential development of mathematical mind habits among middle grades regarding the mathematical transition from arithmetic to algebra. It features the use of habits-of-mind approach in high school curricula organization. It states that the approach offers comprehensible knowledge on mathematics and provides a vehicle used for decreasing mathematical techniques and methods used in high school which will only leaves a set of general purpose tools for the subject. It also mentions that the key for mathematical learning of students in the U.S. is building coherence in mathematical ideas development.
