Improving pharmacovigilance in Europe.

The article considers a proposed legislation that may possibly change the implementation of pharmacovigilance in Europe. Scheduled to be discussed by the European Parliament in April 2010, the legislation proposes changes like information exchange between regulators and industry, and the transfer of responsibility from the industry to public health directories. Under the provisions of the legislation, a Europe-based working party on pharmacovigilance called PVWP would become the pharmacovigilance risk assessment advisory committee (PRAAC).
