Abstract
- The article discusses the poetry of Irish poet Derek Mahon, particularly the tone of his poems in the volumes "The Yellow Book" and "Harbour Lights." Irish poet Brendan Kennelly's criticism of Mahon's poetry and of his voice is considered as is that of critic Terence Brown, who has noted the visual quality of Mahon's poems. The use of color in Mahon's poems, particularly yellow and blue, and their political implications are considered.
