Abstract
- From 1980 to 2000, Page Putnam Miller headed the National Coordinating Committee for the Promotion of History (NCC) and served as the liaison between the federal government and the NCC's member associations. Beginning in 1995, her electronic newsletter, NCC Washington Update, kept historians informed about developments in the legislative, judicial, and executive branches and rallied their support behind such pressing issues as freedom of information, an independent National Archives, and the preservation of historical sites in the national parks. She reflected on the personal experiences that she brought to the job, and the challenges that she faced, in an interview with Donald A. Ritchie on December 22, 2008. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
