The dawn of a new era: Transforming our domestic response to hepatitis B & C. Activity 1: Overview of the viral hepatitis problem.

The article presents an overview of the chronic infection of viral hepatitis in the U.S. It discusses findings of a survey through the National Health and Nutrition Examination (NHANES). It shows the increasing HBV infection and transmission which calls for national awareness and prevention, the transmission mode of infection which includes perinatal, household, sexual, injection, and health care, and the complication and management of the chronic hepatitis infections.
