Abstract
- The authors argue that a total ban on industrially produced trans fatty acids (TFA) should be implemented globally. They cite the health risks associated with TFA consumption, such as cardiovascular diseases, systemic inflammation, insulin resistance and diabetes. They describe the outcome of legislative efforts in Denmark and New York City to eliminate industrial TFA, along with the issues surrounding legislation on TFA removal. The authors further argue that a legislation is needed to globally remove industrial TFA and save lives.
