Abstract

The article offers information on the guidelines for the diagnosis and classification of leishmaniasis in dogs and its treatment and prevention developed by the Canine Leishmaniasis Working Group (CLWG). It mentions that Leishmaniasis is caused by the parasitic protozoan Leishmania infantum and can be diagnosed through an approach based on clinical findings, history and laboratory analyses. It also says that treating leishmaniasis entails veterinarians to ascribe the infection.
